Audio Bibles for
North Africa

The Word for the Oldest Church

A note from Ren

The church in North Africa traces its story to Mark in Alexandria, nearly two thousand years ago. Today it is one of the most pressured churches in the world, and many of its believers cannot read the Bibles they long for.

Our partner, the Bible Society of Egypt, has committed $1 million of its own resources and will carry every step of distribution through its bookshops and churches.

Will you help us place 110,000 audio Bibles in the hands of the persecuted church over the next two years? A church that has endured for two thousand years deserves to hear the Word that carried it here.

Pressing on,
Ren Weise
Executive Director, MegaVoice International

THE NEED

Help place 110,000 audio Bibles with the persecuted church

Millions of believers in North Africa hold their faith where following Jesus can cost them a job, a marriage, a home, or a life. For them, Scripture is not a devotional accessory. It is spiritual survival.

THE WHAT

A printed Bible can't reach them. An audio Bible can.

The church in North Africa is among the oldest in the world outside the Holy Land, tracing its story to Mark in Alexandria around AD 44. Yet in Egypt alone, roughly one in four adults cannot read, and illiteracy runs highest in the very communities where persecution is most severe.

THE REGION

Six North African nations rank among the 50 hardest places on earth to follow Jesus

Across the region, open faith carries real cost and many believers cannot read. Egypt’s church, the largest and most established, is the natural launch point to reach them.

WHY AUDIO

Scripture heard together, at home, in the evening

For millions of believers across North Africa, audio is the only Bible they will ever be able to receive, understand, and engage with. The rate of illiteracy climbs steeply among women, the rural poor, and the villages where believers face the greatest hostility. Audio fits how North African families actually live: the Word heard together across generations.

THE WHO

Our partner on the ground: the Bible Society of Egypt

The Bible Society of Egypt logo

Founded in 1883 with a single bookshop in Alexandria, BSE has served Egypt’s church without interruption for 143 years. It operates openly as a legally recognized institution, a rare position for ministry in a pressured environment.

Skin in the game. BSE is investing $1,000,000 of its own funds and carrying the full work of distribution. It priced its own commitment first, then invited others to join.

THE WHY

Trusted by every branch of the church

1

The world’s largest Arabic Bible publisher. BSE publishes the Van Dyck Arabic translation and distributed 2.5 million Scriptures in 2023 alone.

2

A nationwide network. Nineteen bookshops anchor distribution and Scripture engagement from Alexandria to Upper Egypt.

3

Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic. BSE’s 140th anniversary, hosted at St. Mark’s Coptic Cathedral with Pope Tawadros II, was the largest interdenominational Christian gathering in Egypt’s history.

“A church that has endured for two thousand years deserves to hear the Word that carried it here.”

THE PLAN

From our warehouse to every church door

A steady pace of 55,000 audio Bibles each year, moved through a network the Bible Society of Egypt has spent 143 years building.
Boxes of packaged audio Bible players ready to ship
Audio Bible players handed out at a community distribution

1

From our warehouse to North Africa. MegaVoice loads every unit with the complete Arabic Bible and ships to BSE, which receives and stages the devices in country.

2

Nineteen bookshops as regional hubs. BSE’s bookshop network anchors distribution from Egypt across North Africa.

3

Through every church door. Orthodox, Protestant, and Catholic congregations place devices with believers, prioritizing families a printed page cannot reach.

4

Ministries at the margins. BSE’s literacy classes, prison ministry, school distributions, and festival outreach carry devices to those the church might otherwise miss.

Verified and reported. BSE tracks distribution through its established reporting systems, and MegaVoice International shares numbers, stories, and outcomes with partners, with discretion where believers’ safety requires it.

YEAR ONE

55,000

audio Bibles. Distribution launches through BSE’s bookshops, church partnerships, and ministry programs nationwide.

YEAR TWO

55,000

audio Bibles. The second wave completes the goal, reaching deeper into the villages where the need is greatest.

Total: 110,000 audio Bibles
